Twenty years after the TRC recommended that hundreds of apartheid era atrocities required further investigations and prosecutions, the Gauteng High Court, Pretoria, has dismissed an application by the Government to delay the R167 million constitutional damages case brought by families of victims and survivors.

CITY OF CAPE TOWN: DA BLOCKS PUBLIC FROM PORTFOLIO COMMITTEE MEETING, AGAIN

The DA in Cape Town has once again demonstrated its disregard for transparency and democratic process. This morning’s Human Settlements Portfolio Committee meeting was delayed by 45 minutes after Chairperson Cllr Albert Ntsodo refused to allow members of the public to attend. This exclusion violates Section 20(1) of the Municipal Systems Act, which states that council and committee meetings must be open to the public unless there are compelling reasons to close them. No such reasons were provided.

CAPE TOWN’S #SPRINGCLEANCT CAMPAIGN RINGS HOLLOW AMID UNJUST CLEANING TARIFFS

The GOOD Party supports initiatives that promote civic responsibility and community involvement, including efforts to tackle illegal dumping and keep Cape Town’s public spaces clean. However, the City of Cape Town’s annual #SpringCleanCT campaign is deeply disingenuous when viewed against the backdrop of its punitive “cleansing” tariff imposed from July 2025.
