An investigation into alleged procurement irregularities at Swellendam Municipality lifts the lid on systemic corruption and recommends consideration be given to criminal charges against senior officials including the Municipal Manager and Supply Chain Manager.
The GOOD Party is urgently calling for Provincial intervention in the dysfunctional DA run Swellendam municipality. Media reports have alluded to a R40-million tender fraud to be revealed in the Vermaak Report, due to be discussed in council this week. The alleged fraud relates to multiple tenders that were awarded by the Municipality over a period of time.
The GOOD party welcomes the intervention by Western Cape MEC for Local Government, Anton Bredell in the Swellendam Municipal Manager saga but he needs to intervene further.
