The GOOD party notes reports of a fatal car accident involving Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor, Nqaba Bhanga, and two bystanders who sadly lost their lives. A third bystander is currently in hospital recovering from their injuries.
We extend our deepest condolences to the affected families and believe that a full investigation into the circumstances leading up to this accident must be forthcoming. Innocent people lost their lives and the people of Nelson Mandela Bay need to satisfy themselves that their Mayor is not responsible for this tragedy.
Specifically, this inquest must look into:
- Whether this accident occurred past curfew and if so, what official business the Mayor was conducting at those hours.
- Whether or not Cllr Bhanga was in possession of procurement documents which would be unlawful. As a public official, we are sure Cllr Bhanga is aware of the illegality pertaining to the possesion of procurement documents.
In addition to being a sitting Mayor, Cllr Bhanga was announced just this week as the DA Mayoral Candidate for Nelson Mandela Bay and the voters deserve to know the truth about who they are being asked to vote for.
We wish Cllr Bhanga a successful surgery and speedy recovery so he may satisfy the people of Nelson Mandela Bay that he was not acting unlawfully at the time of this accident.
A full investigation would unearth answers to the burning questions that the people of Nelson Mandela Bay have.
