The GOOD Party in Saldanha Bay Municipality condemns the double standards regarding the treatment of residents and councillors.
In Thursday’s council meeting, the GOOD Party raised our concerns, regarding Finance MMC, Jaco Kotze of the FF+, whose municipal account has been in arrears since June 2024.
The DA and FF+ coalition continue to protect their own.
It is shocking that a member of the executive, who is in charge of such a crucial portfolio, is unable to keep his own finances in check.
According to Section 12A(1) of the Municipal Systems Act, 2000 (Act No. 32 of 2000) a councillor may not be in arrears to the Municipality for rates and services for a period longer than 90 days.
The Municipality has failed to enforce the law against its own MMC Kotze, while it cracks down on our residents who are struggling to make ends meet, who are further indebted by unaffordable municipal rates.
The GOOD Party in Saldanha Bay Municipality demands the immediate suspension of the MMC based on the Code of Conduct for Councillors.
