GOOD statement by Brett Herron,
GOOD: Secretary-General & Member of Parliament
30 June 2022
The GOOD party welcomes the launch of the Salvokop Precinct Development Project, a mixed-use and mixed-income development aimed at spatial integration in Tshwane.
Under the leadership of GOOD leader and Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Patricia De Lille, phase one of building and installing bulk and internal infrastructure has officially started.
Minister De Lille, along with Minister of Social Development Lindiwe Zulu and Minister of Home Affairs Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, launched the flagship integrated development on Wednesday.
The development aligns with GOOD’s values based on spatial and social integration, cohesion, economic growth and protecting the environment through sustainable building designs.
The project, which forms part of the greater Tshwane Inner City Regeneration Programme, includes the construction of five National Government client departments. This is a first of its kind for South Africa and brings these government departments to a central location closer to the people and economic development.
Furthermore, space has been earmarked for the future development of schooling, housing, transport and recreational facilities. Throughout the construction phases, the project will benefit the community at large, through job creation and local community employment.
GOOD remains committed to its fight to address structural inequalities in South Africa through projects aimed at spatial, social, economic and environmental justice.
