We welcome today’s announcement that the President has signed the new Political Party Funding Act into law.
This long-awaited legislation is critical to removing the insidious influence of private interests, through political party funding, over public policy, government decision-making and spending.
It is critical for the strengthening of our democracy that our political processes and electoral mandates are not undermined by the hidden hand of money.
The new act will provide transparency. This is a critical step in the building of a true modern democracy.
The GOOD movement welcomes the passing of the Political Party Funding Act into law and commits itself to honouring the spirit and letter of this new law.
