GOOD STELLENBOSCH VISITS ADAMS FAMILY TO OFFER CONDOLENCES

14 July 2026

GOOD Statement by Robin Hendrikse

GOOD Stellenbosch Municipality Councillor

14 July 2026

It is with profound sadness that I join the people of Stellenbosch and the entire South African football fraternity in mourning the untimely passing of Jayden Adams, who passed away on Saturday.

Born in Cloetesville and later raised in Idas Valley, Jayden embodied the hopes and dreams of so many young people in our communities. Through discipline, perseverance and extraordinary talent, he rose from the local football fields of Stellenbosch to proudly represent Stellenbosch FC, Mamelodi Sundowns and our beloved Bafana Bafana. His journey reminded every young person that greatness can emerge from humble beginnings.

Today, members of GOOD Stellenbosch had the privilege of visiting the Adams family to offer our heartfelt condolences and stand with them during this time of unimaginable grief. No words can truly ease the pain of losing a son, a brother, a friend and a hero. We pray that they may find strength in the overwhelming love and support surrounding them and comfort in the remarkable legacy Jayden leaves behind.

For my own family, this loss is deeply personal. Our families share a profound connection through football. We grew up spending weekends on the soccer fields, where lifelong friendships were built, values were nurtured and our community came together through the beautiful game. Those memories remind us that football is far more than ninety minutes on a pitch, it is about family, unity and belonging.

Jayden remained a son of Stellenbosch, carrying our town with him wherever football took him. Though his life was far too short, the impact he made will endure for generations. Every young boy or girl who dreams of wearing their club’s colours or representing South Africa will see that dreams are possible because Jayden once walked that path.

On behalf of GOOD Stellenbosch and in my capacity as a Stellenbosch Municipality councillor, I extend my deepest and most sincere condolences to Jayden’s parents, family, friends, teammates, coaches, Stellenbosch FC, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bafana Bafana and every person whose life he touched.

May God grant comfort to all who mourn. May He strengthen the Adams family in the days ahead and may the memory of Jayden Adams continue to inspire hope, courage and excellence in generations to come.

Rest in eternal peace, Jayden. Your light may have dimmed too soon, but your legacy will shine forever.
