The GOOD party looks forward to serving as constructive opposition in the Western Cape, with Brett Herron taking up our seat in the provincial parliament.
It is an honour to be re-elected to serve as a public representative and member of the Western Cape legislature.
With that privilege comes a great responsibility to work towards a society and a province that radically reduces inequality and suffering.
This work will no doubt include fighting tirelessly for the provincial government to recognise that the lived reality of the majority of the people of this province is not of a “well-run” government.
Poverty, unemployment, and inhuman living conditions know nothing about the “best run province”
When called to fight, we will do so in a constructive manner as called upon by those who put their vote behind GOOD.
We congratulate Alan Winde on his election as Premier. We wish his cabinet, and our provincial government, the wisdom and the will to end the suffering.
We also congratulate Daylin Mitchell on his election as Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.
We look forward to him presiding over a parliament that encourages robust scrutiny of the Executive and extensive debate on how best to improve the lives of the residents of this province.
