GOOD Statement by Brett Herron,
Unite for Change Leadership Council Member & GOOD Secretary-General
03 March 2026
For the past eight years, maths geek Sandra Dickson has dedicated her life to slowing an accelerating City of Cape Town tariff burden that is making living in the City increasingly unaffordable for all but its wealthiest residents.

She immersed herself in the City of Cape Town’s budgets and budgeting process, founded the organisation Stop City of Cape Town (Stop COCT), and became a well-informed, consistent thorn in the flesh of an increasingly cynical DA-led City.
Now, the GOOD Party is pleased to announce that Sandra has agreed to join its Caucus of Activists in the City of Cape Town as a Councillor. She replaces the excellent Anton Louw, who’s growing accountancy practise requires more of his time.
Sandra’s strength over the years has been to follow the money; to put her formal training for the financial sector – and love of mathematics – to work to advance social justice. This approach has enabled her to see through the City’s PR and calculate the real impacts of its ever-shifting-upward tariff regime on ordinary residents.
Sandra is furthermore not bamboozled by the DA’s strategy of using “clean” audit results as technical cover to retard social justice and obscure ongoing corrupt relationships between power and privilege. She understands that good governance and reducing inequality should be equally weighted.
The GOOD Party has no doubt that Sandra will work tirelessly to make a real difference. Her appointment strengthens the party’s growing community activist core.
