The GOOD party is Drakenstein has joined forces with opposition parties in the Municipality to submit a Motion of No Confidence against DA-Mayor Ald. Conrad Poole.
This comes after GOOD wrote to the Speaker of Council in August last year about the allegations that Poole was allegedly running a pay-for-jobs scheme with councillors paying a kickback for lucrative Mayoral Committee positions.
The complaint activated two consecutive investigations, in terms of the Councillors Code of Conduct, and prima facie evidence was found of a potential breach of the Code and that a possibility exists that the Mayor indeed violated certain rules.
The Motion of No Confidence is the opposition’s way of holding the DA-run Municipality accountable.
They have been dragging their feet with this investigation and it’s alleged that the prosecutor appointed to initiate the case against Poole is a former DA-speaker in Overstrand Municipality.
The DA claims to champion clean and transparent governance, yet it falls extremely short of holding its own to account.
Considering that this is an election year, the DA will do everything to hide their dirty laundry and pull the wool over the eyes of voters.
The truth is the DA places its own interest above that of voters and believe it is accountable to no one but itself.
