GOOD party councillor, Mr Lloyd Phillips, has been elected Chairperson of the Committee of Chairpersons (Chair of Chairs) in the City of Johannesburg.
As GOOD we accept the serious responsibility that comes with this role and commit ourselves to ensuring that the Council and its Committees exercise their oversight functions over the executive in an effective manner.
This is crucial if we are to improve the dire financial situation in South Africa’s economic hub and also to root out the corruption that has crept deep into the City’s systems.
Increased and effective oversight will ensure that the City is able to deliver the highest quality of services to the people, while addressing the rising costs of these services and the pressure this puts on residents.
The duties of the Chair of Chairs also includes stepping in as Acting Speaker should it be necessary.
It has been an uncertain time for the City of Johannesburg and its residents with the political instability distracting those in charge from focusing on quality service delivery.
As the GOOD Party we’ll provide the necessary leadership and guidance where we can to ensure a well-run, prosperous City that serves all the people who live in it.
