DA: DEGREES OF DISHONESTY

Natasha Mazzone must join sidelined Madikizela

16 April 2021

Hot on the heels of the revelation that DA Western Cape leader and MEC Bongi Madikizela lied about completing a university degree, biographies of the party’s Chief Whip in the National Assembly Natasha Mazzone on various websites were altered from listing her as having legal qualifications to having none.

Her updated (yesterday) Wikipedia biography listed two universities as her Alma Maters, but her highest academic qualification as matric. Her profession was altered from “Advocate” to “None”. Also altered was a reference on businesstech.co.za which changed from “legal qualification” to describing her as not completing a law degree.

The GOOD Party yesterday laid criminal charges against Madikizela, while Western Cape Premier Allan Winde sought to manage the situation by placing his MEC under suspension.

If the DA wishes to prove those who claim Madikizela was purely outed for political reasons wrong, it must act against Mazzone with the same force it acted against Madikizela.

It is widely believed Madikizela’s lies were revealed by his own colleagues in order to remove him from the race to be the DA’s nominee for mayor of Cape Town to pave the way for a paler candidate.

What’s good for the gander must be equally good for the goose. Mazzone must go. Lying about your qualifications is a crime and disgrace regardless of race, gender, position, or which faction in your party you support.
